Graystone Power Company Headquarters

Paulding County, GA

Smallwood

Large-scale environments with rolling, grassy hills and intimate human-scale gardens flourish together on this 194-acre headquarters campus. The project includes four key buildings: Administration Headquarters, Operations & Engineering, Warehouse, and Vehicle Maintenance. Paved areas for pole storage structures, vehicle parking, and a fueling station are also integrated into the campus plan.

Administration

The Operations & Engineering building is the home base for Graystone Power Company’s line workers – open office/workstations, showers, café, meeting space, and SCADA. The single-story, tilt-up concrete structure of the O&E building contained a second concrete structure for the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) facility - a secure, state-of-the-art network and communications hub. The building is designed to exceed code requirements for extreme wind, thus addressing requirements for the facility to remain operational after a severe weather event.

This headquarters building contains executive suites, administrative office, call center, fitness center, café, and multi-purpose room with a commercial kitchen. The three-story steel structure clad with precast panels and window-wall is designed to exceed code requirements for extreme wind to maintain operations after a severe weather event.

In addition to refining the locations of buildings, parking, security, and other site elements, my role as project architect focused on the coordination and preparation of construction documents. My role continued through construction and close out.
