morphosis

The Cahill Center unifies astronomy and astrophysics researchers into a single facility that encourages interaction and contemplation. The four-level, cast-in-place, concrete structure is designed with vibration-isolation pads in laboratories where highly sensitive instruments are being developed for space missions. The program for this 38,000 SF research laboratory includes specialized laboratories, auditorium, offices, and open workspace.  My design responsibilities focused on developing the building diagram into a workable plan and coordinating the structural solution with other building systems.
